Music

Performing arts

Performing arts are an integral part of life at Brassall State School, involving students, staff and parents. The aim of the Performing arts program is to develop the creativity which is present in varying degrees in all children. Instrumental music, choirs, glee and choral speaking programs focus on students developing the ability to think and express themselves in sound.

Learning is activity based and through a variety of programs the children are taught the basic skills of music - beat, rhythm, pitch, singing, movement, listening, musical literacy, creating and playing. Aspects of speech and drama, such as performance skills, speech production and articulation are addressed in choral speaking groups. Great emphasis is placed on the 'enjoyment' aspect.

Children have the opportunity to compete in local eisteddfods and competitions, as well as performing for community groups throughout the year.
