  • Speech Language Impairment (SLI)
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Hearing Impairment (HI)
  • Vision Impairment (VI)

The Special Education Program (SEP) has a team of teachers, a teaching Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) and Teacher aides who support students across a range of learning settings.

We also work collaboratively with a range of agencies and support services to cater for the individual needs of students who we support.

Some of these agencies include:

  • Guidance officers
  • Speech language pathologists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Autism Queensland
  • Learning support staff
  • Advisory visiting teachers
  • Chaplain
  • Evolve
  • Community support groups.

Our role is to support the class teacher to provide students who are verified with opportunities to realise their individual potential.

The Special Education Program (SEP) staff can support these students the following ways:

  • In class support – to assist with the classroom program.
  • Withdrawal – small groups.
  • SEP staff work with class teacher and you as parents to write an individual Education plan.
  • SEP staff work with the class to make adjustments .
  • Supervised playroom.
  • Cool zone – A place for students to come during the school day when they require respite, need some quiet space or a support person for listening.
  • Parent support meetings.
  • Specialised classes- we work with parents to ensure each student reaches their maximum potential.

Please notify us at the time of enrolment, or contact the HOSES, your child’s teacher or Line manager if you believe your child is eligible for support through the Special Education Program.
